1 Year as a Professional Blogger ( My Story. Behind the scenes of the blog networks)
By admin on August 22, 2006
It’s been one year since I quit working.
It’s been one year since I told my boss goodbye.
I have been tempted to go back to work.
I have thought long and hard about going back.
But everytime I just decide it aint worth my time. Trading time for dollars is just nuts especially when I get nothing in return. One of the greatest thing about blogging is yes you are trading time for dollars but you are also banking on future money in the archives.
If you run a site that is helpful and resourceful you will make money guaranteed.
Lots of probloggers talk about how they make money with Adsense, or some other advertising revenue. And while last I look I am making roughly near 5 figures via advertising. I’m on my way to climbing the hump as a 6 figure blogger. Suprisingly I’ve spent little time blogging.
One thing about blogging is It’s a Creative Channel. A way for me to vent, to learn to explore what works and what doesnt work in the technology arena. I’m a generally average guy skill wise. Nothing great nothing abnormal. Here’s how I made money this year.
1. Advertising Technology Development
I give blogs and blog technology the credit for this one. Developing technology to help advertisers and publishers make money.
2. Web Publishing + Direct Ad Sales
Again its about leveraging sites as a publisher to make money. The key thing here is direct ad sales. Not just adsense.
3. Site Sales
Web Site Sales earlier in the year helped push my core ideas along that helped me strive for better technology.
4. Software Development
Another segway along the journey. What tools do publishers need ?
5. Affiliate Income as Residual Income
My Affiliate Income seems to blossom every single month each month growing more and more.
I’d love to share how I made money this year but I want to talk about each one of these areas first. And how you can make money. Not how I made money. But how you can have fun, make money and change your lifestyle by quiting your job and throwing the traditional life out the door. Cuz its not worth it. And its less risky than you think.
First up Affiliate Income as Residual Income.
