UnmatchedStyle for sale
By Ben on February 22, 2006
Unmatched Style is for sale at SitePoint.com. The current bid is at $12,500 and the sale is “pending,” but still might fall through as the buyer is analyzing the site a bit more.
I think Unmatched Style is worth at least the $12,500 that the current high bidder is offering. Unmatched Style has solid traffic, tons of content, high monthly revenue, unique design, and a decent PageRank. All of those are huge bonuses and hard to find at SitePoint auctions.
Things I take into account when I’m selling my sites and trying to determine a price are the time I spent on the design, how much content is up on the site, what the PageRank is, how much time I’ve invested, and how much I want to sell it versus how much I want to keep it. For some sites, I set the starting bid high - I am only interested in selling the site if someone is going to offer quite a bit of money. Other time, I’m looking for a quick sale and set a very low BIN. It all depends on how you want the auction to progress. If you’re looking for a quick sale, it’s easy to do.
Ryan has built a great site and deserves a nice payday when it sells. His unique design coupled with the content is worth the 5 figures he looks to be getting.
Anone have any stories to share of buying or selling blogs?

Matt - isn’t the unique design along with the steady traffic and a nice PageRank worth something? I would be willing to pay 20 months revenue for it.
I would just make my own.
I’d say the current offer is a fair price for the buyer as there is a very decent base of traffic and credibility which could allow a buyer to leverage the potential for the site. As someone who is a dedicated design junkie I know this site as well as it’s competitors and I can say although UnmatchedStyle is good, updates are not frequent enough which a new owner could immediately improve. Also, although it’s current content focus is CSS unlike it’s competitors it’s brand is not tied to CSS like CSS Mania or CSS Vault. A new owner could broaden it’s content to include all design css, flash, app, identity and product which would give instant benefits in terms of traffic and revenue growth.

I don’t agree.
I think it’s a great site - but he makes $500 - $900 in monthly revenue. At the high end, the site is probably worth $10k - and that’s if it delivers the $900/month in income consistently over 12 months.
$12,500 is more than I would pay.
